    James Hilbum, ESG M&A Leader, Financial Advisory, Deloitte UK

    James is the ESG M&A leader within Deloitte UK’s Financial Advisory business. In this role James and his team support clients in achieving their ESG ambitions through the end-to-end M&A lifecycle. From defining the transaction strategy that will deliver on ESG objectives, to a targeted due diligence approach that focuses on the material ESG metrics for that transaction and links ESG performance to business and deal value. And post deal to supporting clients in realizing the identified ESG value through a focused ESG integration approach.James has 20+ years' experience in M&A, private equity and strategy consulting, the past 12 of which have been focused on ESG. Prior to joining Deloitte James was the financial services leader at a sustainability consultancy, supporting private equity and asset managers in developing their ESG strategies and delivering these within their own operations and via dedicated ESG funds.James previously ran a pan-African renewable energy infrastructure fund and before that was a management consultant with M&A leadership roles and experience with Deloitte Consulting’s Johannesburg Office and McKinsey & Co.

    Bertie Whitehead, Managing Director, Corporate Broking and Equity, Capital Markets, & EMEA IBD Head of ESG, Goldman Sachs

    Bertie is a managing director in Corporate Broking and Equity Capital Markets in the UK and EMEA IBD head of ESG. He joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 2017.Prior to joining the firm, Bertie was a managing director at Barclays, where he worked for nearly eight years in the Corporate Broking department of the Investment Banking Division. Before that, he worked for two years at Citi and began his career in Corporate Broking at Hoare Govett in 1999.Bertie earned a BA in Financial and Business Economics from the University of Newcastle in 1999.

    Claire Dorrian, Head of Sustainable Finance, Capital Markets, London Stock Exchange

    Claire is responsible for leading the portfolio of sustainable finance related projects across London Stock Exchange Group’s Capital Markets business which includes equities, fixed income and ETFs. Claire has played an important role in the development of model ESG disclosure and reporting guidance for London Stock Exchange listed companies and initiatives such as an ESG Disclosure Tool, the publication of a guide to green finance and Green Economy Mark for AIM and Main Market companies. Claire’s background is in the fund management industry and in equity capital markets, working with private and listed companies. Claire is a member of an industry Taskforce on the Scaling of Voluntary Carbon Markets.Positioned at the heart of global financial markets, LSEG works across the investment and finance chain from issuers to asset owners, and across the financial, banking, trading and advisory ecosystem.
