    Shahram is Founder/ General Partner at Civilization Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on supporting cutting-edge innovations in health tech and biology. Prior to CV, Shahram was a serial entrepreneur and founding executive in several life science companies, raising over $100M. Shahram was the founding CEO of Inspirna, a clinical-stage biotech company with multiple first-in-class therapeutics for cancer, and the CFO and VP of Corporate Development at NextBio, a genomics software pioneer acquired by Illumina. As an investor, Shahram has backed transformative companies in health tech and the life sciences, including digital health leader Omada Health, gene therapy leader Rocket Pharma (NASDAQ: RCKT), Singular Bio (acquired by Invitae), Counsyl (acquired by Myriad), Bina (acquired by Roche), and Avantome (acquired by Illumina). Shahram founded CV to support a new generation of category-defining companies, including Billion-to-One (diagnostics/ genomics), Evonetix (gene synthesis) and Catalog (DNA data storage).

    Randy Baron, Lead Portfolio Manager, Pinnacle Associates

    Randy joined Pinnacle Associates in 2012 and serves as lead Portfolio Manager of the firm’s various international and global products and is responsible for the firm’s overall international investment strategy. In the first quarter of 2019, the International Small Cap strategy he manages was ranked among the top 10 ten players in its respective universe. In the second quarter of 2020, he was the #1 ranked manager globally among international small cap funds with an overall quarterly return of over 56%. He was also up 80% in the first quarter of 2021. He is additionally responsible for Pinnacle’s Turnaround strategy, which subscribes to the thesis that sometimes high-quality businesses fall (temporarily) out of favor, plus serves as a member of the investment committee for the firm’s All-Cap strategy. Previously, Randy was Senior Securities Analyst at SM Investors, an investment partnership in New York, where his responsibilities included security analysis in various industries encompassing wireless telephony, cable television, food, and publishing. Before SM Investors, he worked at JP Morgan and Lazard Freres. Baron’s experience also encompasses an early role alongside Gabelli Asset Management, which is known for its stock-picking expertise. Randy received a B.A. in international studies with a concentration in economics from Johns Hopkins University. He earned his M.A., with highest honors, from Hopkins’ Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, where his course of study focused dually on International Economics and Latin American studies.

    Chris Mayo, Head of Primary Markets, Americas, London Stock Exchange Group

    Chris helps companies and investment managers from the Americas access capital through corporate equity, debt and fund listings on London’s public markets. He has more than 20 years of corporate finance experience in New York and London for Barclays, Salomon Smith Barney, Citi and Schroders and has executed IPOs, financings and M&A transactions in the US and Europe worth tens of billions of dollars. Previously, Chris was the Primary Markets specialist on the technology and life science sectors and was also an investor and Head of Strategy for an early-stage cloud managed services company, which exited to a UK technology company. He holds a First Class Honours Bachelors Degree in International Business and German from Aston University, a Masters Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and is a CFA Charterholder.
